The main reason I bought this package was for the rechargeable batteries, which do keep a decent charge for the wii fit & glad it it’s usb chargeable, cause I don’t need another gadget to plug-in. I wish they would’ve put in 5 lbs wieght’s instead of 2, being a guy u want more of a challenge, but it will be good for my daughter when I bring them home for her. I really wanted to rate this purchase 4 stars but did not for one major reason.

The leg strap included in this package is 4 or 5 inches shorter in length than the one packaged with EA Sports Active (EASA). The strap itself is very, well made and upon examination appears to be finished and sewn better than the one packaged in EASA. For those with smaller thighs that have had issues with strap overlap, this will be an excellent replacement, BUT for those of us with larger thighs that have had problems with the one in EASA being too small, its not a help. When I succeed in loosing more weight, I suspect I’m going to appreciate this strap nicely but unfortunately I can’t use it now.

The handles that I received are also good. A narrower, padded grip strap, that will sit comfortably behind the Wii remote while being used.

The band that came with the game broke and I had a hard time getting enough resistance with the original band anyway. This set allows you to select a band at the appropriate resistance level, and I have had no problems with deterioration as I did with the original band. I haven’t used the leg strap, but it seems to be of good quality as well.

I purchased 2 of these back when my wife and I bought our Wii. After playing with the sports pack for a while, we got kind of tired of it. Switching the controllers in and out was annoying, and, as other reviewers have mentioned, it’s impossible to set the game up with the remote in some of the equipment (like the tennis racket). We have found the game to be much more enjoyable WITHOUT the sports pack. I wouldn’t bother wasting your money on this one, personally…

For the price, this sports pack cannot be beat. It is a useful and almost necessary add-on for any Wii system.

The baseball bat, tennis racket, and golf club share the same handle. The Wii controller fits into the handle. The handle screws onto each attachment. The protective clear cover on the controller must be removed first.

The baseball bat makes hitting much more fun. It’s made of a lightweight plastic so it isn’t even close to the weight of a real bat. (Which is a good thing for your TV). I still found myself assuming a batter’s stance and following through on my swing. Oh, the controller must be removed during pitching. Not a big deal since it just slides out of the handle.

The tennis racket is sorely needed. It makes the tennis game much more fun. Stepping into forehand and backhand shots feels realistic. The racket was so much fun that I now play 5-6 games each time I fire up the Wii.

The golf club is nice but very short. I wish it had a little more length to it. Controller is about 2ft fully extended. Perhaps attaching a weight to the club head might help.

Haven’t tried the steering wheel. Can say that the Wii controller sits in the middle of the steering wheel.

I originally had one of these before and it worked great, until my cat chewed through the wire. I guess thats a flaw to consider that it is wired, but compared to the wireless sensor bars that are out there, the wired one is oh so much better.

This was a replacement sensor for the original that came with the WII. The original had wires that were sucked up by the vacuum cleaner and the sensor hit the floor and would not work. The replacement sensor works great and as good as the original. Would highly recommend. Would also recommend keeping the wires off the floor-so they do blend in the right color rug and get sucked up by the vacuum.

Mention the title “Wii for Dummies” to the general game playing populous and you might receive a chuckle. “Wii for Dummies? The Wii is already the most simple thing on the planet!” they might say. But Kyle Orland’s book is not for this demographic. It is targeted toward the other group that Nintendo has been trying to woo: people who have haven’t ever owned a video game system (or at least not in a while). For these people the Wii is not the intuitive piece of hardware Nintendo claims. It’s a complex piece of technology that requires hardware and software setup, has deep system preferences menus, has features that don’t explain what they do, and has an array of games that vary in quality. Wii for Dummies covers all these bases.

The Nintendo Wii is easy to learn, but learning implies a teacher. Wii for Dummies is aimed directly at those people who want a Wii but have no one to teach them. It explains (with accompanying photos!) how to set up the hardware on a TV and how to navigate the system’s software. It explains the intricacies of creating Miis, how to use the various Channels, how to buy games on the Virtual Console, tips on browsing the web, and even a nice history of the Nintendo company.

Wii Sports and Wii Fit are also covered in great details in Wii for Dummies, two of the games that are the main draw for the non-game buying market. Kyle Orland also makes recommendations on games for different groups: the non-gamer, partis, and families. These mini reviews not only explain a bit about the game but make recommendations on who the game both is and isn’t intended for (though some of the reason are tenuous). Between these recommendations and the Virtual Console recommendations, the new Wii owner is bound to find something to make their investment worthwhile.

If you haven’t played games in a long time (or ever) and need a teacher, Wii for Dummies is a well written and well organized guide that’s sure to answer all your questions.

At first, I thought this book was only for people who bought the Wii as their first video game console. This book is definitely aimed at them and includes great information for first time users. There are chapters on how to set up the system (with troubleshooting tips), how to use the controller, and how to choose games, all written in simple, easy to follow instructions. The chapters assume the reader doesn’t have any video game knowledge and holds their hands through processes such as reading the ESRB ratings and reading reviews of new games.

However, even with the writing for a new user, there are still nuggets and useful information for more experienced readers. For instance, the section on Channels in the Wii is extremely helpful, uncovering information I didn’t know about the console. The list of websites specifically optimized for the Wii and setting up a specific Channel for Wii Fit was information I didn’t know and found really fun. The book also includes suggestions for games on both the Virtual Console and Wii for all types of play: party, solo, and in between.

I think the most useful parts of the book for both new and experienced players are the suggested resources that are included in each section. Links to websites that cover kid-friendly games, links to mainstream video game review sites, and tips to find out new information on the console are invaluable for the book and teaches the reader where to find information the book can’t cover. It’s definitely a good primer about how to become informed about video gaming in general.

I found Wii for Dummies to be chuck full of useful information that both applies to the Wii and gaming in general. The writer does a great job of writing simple to follow instructions that are entertaining and witty. Sometimes I read a section I already knew just to see his funny take on it. I definitely would recommend the book for users who just got the Wii and don’t know exactly what to do with it or as a gift for a relative or friend who is not a gamer. For more experienced players, I would still recommend it for all the great content on using all of unexplored features of the console.

I’d give this game 10 stars if I could! We’ve been waiting 9 months for a game like this!

We got our Wii for Christmas last year, and each of our kids got a game. My then 6-year-old daughter got Pet Dogz2 — BIGGEST WASTE OF MONEY EVER!! She hated it from day one. She wanted a game with animals that she could dress up and play games with, Pet Dogz2 was NOT it. And she hasn’t found anything that’s fit the bill since. Until now.

She’s now 7 years old and Littlest Pet Shop is her dream come true for Wii. She gets to pick out the pet she wants, dress it up, name it, walk it around the “town,” and play games with it to earn Kibble which she can then use to buy other pets and items (clothes, toys, etc) for her pets.

If your daughter likes animal games, Littlest Pet shop toys, Webkinz, etc. I can’t recommend this game enough!

My daughter got this game for her 6th birthday and she loves it. She has been playing My Sims and enjoying it but this is perfect for a young girl. She loves to play dress up, so being able to dress her pets, buy them pretty things, and name them is pure joy for her. She needs some help with reading now and again (and spelling the new pets names) but otherwise she does just fine playing this game. She has figured alot of things out without my help, how to feed and pet them, unlock worlds which has given her a sense of satisfaction. This game would drive me insane but for a young girl it seems to perfect.
